Prompted by my recent healing I wish to express my gratitude, because I have been so often strengthened and encouraged by the testimonies of others. Through the loving help of a Christian Science practitioner I have been healed of a stomach and gall bladder complaint; and I give all honor to God.
In 1910 friends called my attention to Christian Science, because I was suffering from a chronic foot complaint. With the help of Christian Science practitioners I was healed of this difficulty in eighteen months. Since then Christian Science has been my constant companion on rough and smooth paths, and thus it will remain.
In 1913 our daughter, then seven years old, was taken ill with appendicitis and pneumonia. I had Christian Science treatment for her at once, although my wife sent for a doctor. My confidence in God's ever present help was firm, and did not waver a second. I knew the doctor to be a loving humanitarian, and he worked to the best of his understanding to save the child. Four times she passed through a crisis, and there was an improvement, but the disease returned each time. In the meantime double pneumonia had set in. Another doctor was consulted. He declared that an operation would be useless, because the child was much too weak. Then I asked my wife if even then she would let the child have Christian Science treatment alone. She yielded. I informed the practitioner at once, and that very same night the child slept more peacefully than she had done for weeks, and the healing progressed so harmoniously and completely that in two weeks we did not need any further help. Despite the fact that before her illness the child was always weak and sensitive, after this healing she developed into a healthy, strong girl, so that to-day she is the sunshine of our home.
