That a doctor "holds no disrespect for the spiritual phase of Christian Science," as he is reported as saying in the issue of your paper of October 25, is appreciated. He is further reported as saying, however, that "a system of scientific healing does not exist in Christian Science." I shall appreciate space in your columns for this letter of correction and refutation of this doctor's statement.

According to Webster's dictionary, "science" is defined in part as "knowledge; knowledge of principles or facts." From the same source, the meaning of the word "heal" is "to make hale, sound, or whole." A scientific system of healing, then, is a knowledge which would result in health or wholeness. Christian Science is the knowledge of the absolute truth about God and man and the universe, which, when realized, results in the healing of all manner of disease. It is the truth which Christ Jesus declared would make men free.

This truth about God and man and the universe which heals and is Science, is wholly spiritual. It begins with one perfect God, who is good, infinite Spirit, Mind, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love, the only cause. From this is deduced the fact that man and the real universe are perfect, whole, healthy, harmonious, spiritual, forever consciously reflecting or expressing the nature and character of the perfect creator. From this premise of absolute truth in Christian Science follows the unreality of everything which is unlike God and His perfect creation, including matter, sin, sickness, disease, and death.
