Church Building

The first needful step toward building a Christian Science church is that each member strive daily to gain a clearer understanding of God and of the divine idea of Church. As one keeps in thought the allness and omnipotence of God, divine Love, and the perfection of His reflection as expressed in the spiritual universe, including man, one is enabled to help in fulfilling the mission of the Christian Science church as the institution through which the healing power of Truth is being demonstrated to-day.

Church building is thus a mental process. When church members lift their thoughts above mortality, cease quibbling over the details of a material edifice, look away from matter to divine Mind, so proving the omnipotent and ever available healing power of Spirit; strive to bring a better understanding of God and His kingdom of harmony to mankind, and devote their thought to the carrying on of Truth's holy work of healing, then blessings will be added unto them, and their church will be built.

In Psalms we read, "Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it." Unless our thoughts are good, emanating from God, and thus are constructive, up-building thoughts, they have no power, and we labor in vain. As each individual member reflects divine Love, he is helping to build a Christian Science church. Each loving, kind, considerate, good thought is a stone in the foundation of the church. God, divine Mind, is the source of every thought which is healing, constructive, and helpful in church building.
