The Lectures
Introductions to Lectures
Boston, Massachusetts (The Mother Church).
Lecturer: Professor Hermann S. Hering; introduced by George Shaw Cook, who said:—
Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, once sent the following message to a group of Christian Scientists: "You cannot know me in my personality, but in my books and my writings, and in my love for you and for all mankind." In her great love for mankind Mrs. Eddy established, and provided for the perpetuation of, The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. Included in the many and varied activities of this church is The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, of which the speaker of the evening is a member. Because of his education and training, because of his long experience in the practice and teaching of Christian Science, and because of his personal acquaintance for many years with our Leader, he is especially well qualified to address us.
