Christian Science has enabled me to understand the reason...
Christian Science has enabled me to understand the reason for my early questionings and dissatisfaction, and has wonderfully helped me to solve my problems.
I had been sick a great deal, had spent much time in bed and in an energetic search for health when, disappointed in and tired of material ways, I acknowledged that although I had been going to Sunday school and church all my life I did not know how to put into practice the truths and the promises of the Bible. Humbly I began the study of the Christian Science literature which was provided for me, and strove to think of God as good. This work was quickly rewarded in many corrections. From that time I began to be freed from hereditary beliefs and from effects of accidents. For several years I had suffered with pain in my side, said to have been the result of broken ribs which had been badly set. I had taken much treatment under different schools of medicine for kidney, liver, throat, and lung troubles, and still more for nervousness. Dieting had been resorted to many times in different ways, much to the distress of my family. I was afraid of almost everything I ate. I spent more money than I could afford for medicines, appliances, and doctors' bills. It is about twelve years since I took medicine or used material appliances for healing.
There are many things I could write which would show how very much I needed Christian Science when it came to me and healed me, but that is not the real purpose of this testimony. What I want particularly to tell is how grateful I am that Christian Science is saving me, redeeming me from all thought of a power opposed to God. In "Rudimental Divine Science" (p. 1) Mrs. Eddy defines Christian Science "as the law of God, the law of good, interpreting and demonstrating the divine Principle and rule of universal harmony."
