[Original testimony in German]
I have experienced the blessings of divine Love abundantly
I have experienced the blessings of divine Love abundantly. Shortly after Easter I was on my way to a store and had to pass a restaurant in front of which a dog was lying. It came and bit my leg without even barking. Before setting out I had been mentally repeating the passage beginning at line 14 on page 495 of our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and again I immediately clung steadfastly to God, and did not even think it might be dangerous, for neither the bite itself nor the wound caused me any pain. The wound did not become inflamed, although there was a hole as large as a thimble. A maid who had formerly been in my employ was in the restaurant at the time, and she wanted to wash out the wound with peroxide; but I said it was not necessary, that water was enough to cleanse the wound, for with God there can be no accidents. When they wanted to send me to a doctor who lived near by, I called their attention to the statement in the Bible, "I am the Lord that healeth thee," and turned at once to a Christian Science practitioner, receiving quick and loving treatment.
I was advised to consult a doctor. The place began to swell immediately, but by the time I had arrived home the swelling had abated again. I picked up a copy of Der Herold der Christian Science and came across the Bible passage, "I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick." The hand of the Almighty bound the wound for me. Our dear Leader says (Science and Health, p. 225), "Love is the liberator."
Words are inadequate to express my gratitude for all the good and all the blessings I have received in Christian Science.—(Mrs.) Auguste Beckert, Einsiedel, nr. Chemnitz, Germany.
