As with the prodigal son, tired of the husks of materiality,...
As with the prodigal son, tired of the husks of materiality, the first glimpse of what Christian Science is awakened within me the desire to return to my Father's house; and it has since shown me the way.
Our three-year-old daughter had been in bondage to malnutrition from birth, and had experienced all the ills developing from her weakened condition. She was deprived of freedom in eating and in play; and when the physician finally said an operation upon the diseased tonsils and adenoids was necessary, we turned to Christian Science and witnessed the efficacy of the healing power of Truth. The sense of peace and regeneration I carried away after my first visit to the practitioner's office will always stay with me. The child was healed in two treatments, and I can truthfully testify that she now enjoys splendid health. Before this healing, each winter she suffered from colds, bronchitis, and congestion of the lungs; but since then she has been free, going through her first term in kindergarten without being compelled to miss any time on account of illness.
We have had healings of astigmatism, mastoid growth, nervousness, pneumonia, measles, whooping cough, constipation, and many other discords. Unemployment was met with this truth; and progress has been seen in all we have attempted as we have correctly applied it. I am so grateful that Christian Science heals not only sickness but sin; that it is a religion we can use wherever we are, or whatever the condition which seems to present itself. I cannot adequately express my gratitude for these blessings we have received; but they cannot be compared to the peace and love that Christian Science has brought into my life. I am most grateful for knowing more about God and about man in His image and likeness, and for the searchlight of Love which exposes our sinful thinking and bestows upon us the power to rise above it. I am grateful for release from the false beliefs of self-pity, pride, resentment, impatience, fear, and many other wrong conditions which do not measure up to the example set us by our Way-shower, Christ Jesus.
