It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I send this testimony of healing. When Christian Science came to me I had been taking medicine and hypodermics for several years on account of so-called incurable blood poisoning. I was so discouraged that at times it seemed as if I should lose my reason. Just about this time my husband and I attended a Christian Science lecture. The speaker of the evening had at one time been a doctor, but had turned to Christian Science years before the lecture. He so plainly and beautifully explained Christian Science that I decided that what I needed was this truth which makes men free. We next attended a Wednesday evening testimony meeting, and shortly after visited a Christian Science practitioner who lovingly helped me, with the result that I was healed in one treatment. This was about nine years ago.
A baby girl was born a year later; she is in perfect health, and loves Christian Science. After my healing I began to study the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and to apply what I understood; and its truth has sustained me ever since. I have also been healed of chronic constipation, headaches, insomnia, and nervousness, and have gained in weight from one hundred to one hundred and forty pounds.
While I am very grateful for the physical healings, my gratitude for the spiritual regeneration is beyond words. Practically everyone who gains healing in Christian Science is mentally and morally elevated; and it sets one free from the bondage of sickness and sin, and inspires confidence and hope to a degree that cannot be attained by any other means. I am grateful for the privilege of membership in a branch church and The Mother Church, of teaching in Sunday school, and for class instruction. My desire is to help mankind as I have been helped. In Mrs. Eddy's words (Poems, p. 13):
