Twenty-two years and a half ago I was a hopeless invalid

Twenty-two years and a half ago I was a hopeless invalid. I had tried almost everything that medical science had to offer, but to no avail. Finally, one day when I was feeling unusually ill and thoroughly discouraged, for it seemed as if there were no hope for me, this thought came: I am willing to give up medicine and everything else of a material nature for God. I immediately wrote to a Christian Science practitioner for absent treatment, and in four days from the time she received the letter I suddenly realized that I was healed. I can never express the joy and happiness I experienced when I knew that the Christ, Truth, is present to heal all our diseases just as it was of old when the lame, the paralyzed, the deaf, the dumb, and the blind were brought to Christ Jesus and he healed them every one.

During these years I have had many proofs of the power of Truth as a deliverer in times of trouble. An attack of influenza was healed in a few hours; several severe burns were healed almost instantly; a severe attack of appendicitis was quickly overcome; and insomnia, supposed to be hereditary, has yielded to the faithful work of a loving practitioner. But the greatest help has been in times of trouble. During the hurricane a lady and I were alone in the house. When the storm came roaring through it and we feared the house would be destroyed, what a comfort it was to know that the law that stilled the storm on Galilee is in operation now! My fears were quieted and I thanked God for deliverance, although the storm roared roared without.

I praise God for Mrs. Eddy's pure life, which enabled her to show us the way to Truth and Life.
