I am very grateful for the revelation of the Christ, Truth,...
I am very grateful for the revelation of the Christ, Truth, as given in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. This book is truly a "key" to the Scriptures, opening to all many hidden truths and promises. I had studied earnestly and prayerfully many of these promises, believing them to be applicable to the solving of our daily human problems, yet not understanding how to make them practical. I had been a student of the Bible for years, and had searched its pages, longing to find the true way to worship God and to know Him. To me one of the most vital promises was, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you;" but I did not understand the nature of "the kingdom of God," or how to "seek" it. Soon after I began the study of Christian Science, I learned the definition of "God" as given by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health (p. 465): "God is incorporeal, divine, supreme, infinite Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love." As this dawned on my consciousness, I began to realize that God's kingdom must be spiritual and ever present, and that as we seek this kingdom we find that all these spiritual things already belong to man, who is ever in possession of all good.
I did not take up the study of Christian Science of physical healing, but was attracted to it by the healing of a member of my family. However, I was very much in need of the Christ, Truth, and as I pursued the study, many false beliefs of sickness and limitation were overcome. I rejoice today that for nearly twelve years Christian Science has been my only physician, and that it has never failed, when properly applied, to bring about complete healing. Acute indigestion, influenza, colds, hemorrhages, and hay fever have yielded to the power of Truth.
I should like to relate a healing which proves that distance is no barrier in healing. Some time ago, while on a motor trip, visiting friends in a distant southern city, I was attacked with hay fever in a distressing form, the physical condition being so acute that it seemed impossible for us to proceed as we had planned. On Sunday morning I wrote to a practitioner in my home city asking for Christian Science treatment. The following Tuesday morning we started on our trip, though to mortal sense I was still very ill. I clung steadfastly to "the scientific statement of being," on page 468 of Science and Health, for nearly five hours, when I suddenly realized that I was healed; and in a very short time every manifestation of the error had disappeared. Although I visited the next day a home where the same false belief seemed to be in evidence, I was perfectly free. I have always been especially grateful for this healing—grateful to the loving practitioner, grateful that we have this healing truth ever with us, grateful that Christian Science does heal.
