Among the Churches
Current Notes
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (Second Church).—Dedication of the church building of Second Church of Christ, Scientist, at the corner of Twelfth Avenue and Cypress Street, has now taken place. The property faces one hundred feet on Twelfth Avenue, West, and one hundred and twenty-five feet on Cypress Street. The building, surrounded by a lawn, is of classic Colonial design, with the facade with its Ionic columns facing northeast. The construction is of hollow tile, faced with stucco, and surmounted by a dome. The main auditorium, with mahogany-finish pews, seats nearly five hundred, and is sexagonal in form, the floor sloping slightly toward the platform.—Morning Star.
Geneva, New York (First Church).—Although no definite date has been set for the completion of the remodeling of the Gates residence at 52 Hamilton Street as the permanent home of First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Geneva, the first services will probably be held there early this spring. While the changes being made in the structure have changed the exterior but little, the interior has been extensively altered. All the ceilings and partitions have been removed, and the entire building has been converted into a spacious auditorium with a balcony. A high, vaulted ceiling has been placed well above the balcony.—Daily Times.
