I shall never be able to express in words my gratitude for all that I owe to Christian Science. From early childhood I had been an invalid, and as years went by each ailment became worse, and more were added to what I already had. I had doctored with a great number of physicians and specialists and tried out their methods, such as diet, electric treatments, fasts, rest cures, drinking mineral waters, and so forth. Some of these methods benefited me for a while, only to leave me in the end worse than before. At last I was told that nothing more could be done for me. Like many others I found man's extremity to be God's opportunity, for with this verdict I turned to Christian Science.

My first healing was that of stomach trouble pronounced by physicians to be in its worst form. I was completely healed by simply reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Swelling of my tonsils, a condition that appeared regularly once a year and was so painful that to swallow anything was almost impossible, was beautifully healed in one treatment. Constipation of years' standing was healed in two weeks; internal trouble with which I suffered so much that many times I was compelled to take an opiate, was also healed in Christian Science.

During an influenza epidemic I awoke one morning to find myself burning with fever and with all the rest of the symptoms. With two absent treatments I was healed, and on the second day was about my duties as usual.
