In grateful rejoicing I give testimony to the supremacy of the metaphysical over the physical, as taught in Christian Science. I sprained my knee very badly and the pain was so intense that I was in a fainting condition. My leg was doubled under me, and I could not straighten it. Fear assailed me for the moment, also anxiety that I should not be able to keep a business appointment. I was helped into a chair and studied sentences from our textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, but could still feel the undercurrent of distress. After an hour or so I timidly tried to walk but was quite helpless, and the pain seemed greater than before. Why? Because I was looking for a material result instead of seeing the spiritual basis of true being.

Then I thought of Jesus, of what he did to make the lame walk, of what he taught to make us "every whit whole." Mrs. Eddy tells us on page 477 of Science and Health that he saw only God's perfect ideas, not suffering mortals, and that "this correct view of man healed the sick." In quiet contemplation I realized that "all reality is in God and His creation, harmonious and eternal" (ibid., p. 472). Thus the divine promise that "nothing shall by any means hurt you" was gloriously fulfilled. Without any thought of sensation in matter I got up and walked out into the garden. It was the natural demonstration of Truth over error, and the result was instantaneous healing. This experience strengthened my faith in the allness of God, good. It taught me to look beyond the seeming discords to where, like an oasis in a desert waste, there's the near, dear smile of God.—(Miss) Nellie F. Wiseman, Erdington, Birmingham, England.
