In Romans we read that "all things work together for good to them that love God." Thus the after effects of injuries sustained when skiing in December, 1916, were the means whereby a copy of Der Herold der Christian Science and the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, came into my possession in January, 1918. My wife became acquainted with this teaching at the same time. The result of the mishap when skiing was an injured knee joint, and for a whole year I had tried practically every material remedy to heal it, but in vain. Finally a well-known surgeon told me that according to an X-ray photograph a healing might possibly be brought about by an operation. To this, however, I would not consent, as it was feared that my knee would remain stiff.

When I read the textbook through for the first time I was completely healed of the tobacco habit to which I had been subject for over twenty years. In a short time, when mountain climbing, I was able to establish the complete healing of the injury to my knee joint. This healing was the result of simply reading the textbook.

In the years which followed I had many wonderful proofs of the healing power of divine Love in cases of sickness and accidents. A bladder complaint was healed in a few weeks, and I was healed of diphtheria in a few days. My wife overcame scarlet fever in two days. Bad falls with my bicycle and motor cycle had no effect on my body or the machines. Christian Science has been of inestimable value to me and to my business. Duties which had formerly overtaxed me physically, became a joy to me, and I was able to perform them without effort.
