Opportunities in Christian Science

When we begin to think about the opportunities Christian Science brings to us, it is like counting our blessings—there is no end to it. Our opportunities are unlimited, since, as Christian Science reveals, good is infinite. But as we con the rich unfoldments of opportunity which have come to us through Christian Science, there are some specific manifestations which stand out as particularly beautiful.

Christian Science makes it possible for each of us to become a missionary without leaving our own country or even our home. By individual right thinking, and by holding persistently to the right concept of God, man, and the universe, as well as to their relation to each other, we are helping to regenerate or save human consciousness. One thought from God accepted, held to, and radiated, carries the power of God with it; also, it carries infinite possibilities of healing, of cleansing or purifying from sin, of wiping away the mists of doubt and fear.

Much good has come forth in this century, due to the impetus of the comparatively few years of right thinking induced by Christian Science. All over the world a high, noble, and unselfish type of intelligence is gathering in groups for counsel and deliberation. And the men and women working in this way are reaching out for a clearer comprehension of Truth. Like Benjamin Franklin and his coworkers who framed the Constitution of the United States of America, these others are realizing that nothing permanently good can be accomplished without the wisdom and guidance of the one infinite divine Mind. As Christian Scientists, it is our sacred duty and our holy joy to assist in this work. Wherever we are, or whatever our human living conditions or surroundings may be, our share in this work is large and important—because of Christian Science. Each time we know the truth about God and man, each time we deny error and mentally replace it with this truth, as in the reading of the daily newspapers or advertisements in subways and trolleys, or in daily conversation, we are helping in this great, and wonderful, and far-reaching work. Each time we go to a small, seemingly unimportant committee meeting with our thought imbued with His holy presence, we are serving all humanity and helping to solve the problems of the world. Each time the belief of lameness, blindness, or any other deformity suggests itself to us on the crowded thoroughfares, right there in our thought we can refuse to admit as real those false mental images of man.
