At one time, while I was cooking, a large saucepan...
At one time, while I was cooking, a large saucepan of lard suddenly ignited, and while I was putting out the flames nearly the whole of my face and both my hands were severely burned. I quickly telephoned to a Christian Science practitioner, but found she was away from home. Her whereabouts, however, was traced in a most wonderful manner, and in about twenty minutes she was with me. Until then my mother read to me from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. During my first treatment all pain left me, and the sense of shock was also quickly overcome. Although my hands were swollen and blistered and my face almost unrecognizable, every condition of error was quickly and steadily conquered, and in three weeks I was healed, the new skin being perfectly smooth and clear and free from scars.
Although I am deeply grateful for the physical healing, I can never be thankful enough for the wonderful spiritual uplift I received, and for the fresh realization I gained of the constant protection and ever-presence of God under any and every condition of human experience. I was also healed at the same time of influenza and sciatica through the work of the same practitioner, for whose loving and steadfast help I wish here to express my sincere gratitude. I have both experienced and witnessed innumerable healings through Christian Science, and I feel the only adequate way to express my gratitude for all that it has done for me and mine is to gain sufficient understanding of the wonderful truth which our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, has presented to the world, in order that I may help others as I have been helped and encouraged by the loving example of the Christian Scientists I have been privileged to know.—(Miss) Constance Sylvia Obbard, Hove, Brighton, Sussex, England.
