Birkenhead News

My attention has been drawn to the report in your recent issue of a speech by a clergyman at the Mount Tabor Young Men's Forum, on "Christian Science," which, as reported, contains a number of incorrect and misleading statements regarding Christian Science and which, therefore, it is my duty to ask you, in the public interest, to correct by publishing this letter. As reported, the speaker stated that "God, they [the advocates of Christian Science] claimed was not a person, but a principle; the Trinity was rejected, and they denied the divinity of Christ. No place was given for the reality of sin. The Bible was altered as read by them." The only authoritative source of information regarding the teachings of Christian Science is the writings of its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy, and in particular the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures;" and all desirous of learning what Christian Science teaches on the points raised by the critic should consult the tenets of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, to be found on page 497 of Science and Health.
