I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude for the following proof of the healing power of Truth as taught by Christian Science. In September, 1924, my son came home from his employment feeling very ill and complaining of a severe cold. He went to bed, and I kept knowing the truth as we are taught in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. On the third day he was much better, but later on he grew worse; he had severe pain in his chest and side, and breathed with difficulty. To my thought he had all the symptoms of pneumonia. We then decided to have help from a Christian Science practitioner; so we sent a telegram to the nearest one, who lives twenty-five miles away. This lady had helped us before on more than one occasion. The wire was dispatched at six o'clock in the afternoon, and at half past eight my son fell into a quiet sleep. Then all fear left me; my thought became calm, and I was better able to hold on to Truth, and to deny the fears that came to me in the night. In the morning my son awoke perfectly healed, and asked that his breakfast be brought to him. In a few days he was able to take up his work again. Words cannot express the gratitude we felt to the one who so lovingly helped us to see the real man and the unreality of a sick mortal.
I also wish to relate another splendid healing I had two years ago. I was then suffering from gastritis, my body being swollen. I tried to help myself, but did not get much better; so I wrote to a Christian Science practitioner for help, which was lovingly given. On the third day all pain and fear vanished, and I knew I was healed. I did not stay in bed, and was able to go about my household duties.
It is childlike trust in God which enables us to overcome. I feel that words cannot express what we owe to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for showing us all the beautiful healing truth which Jesus taught, and for making known to us that God is ever present with us. I am also very grateful for another healing. My husband was lifting a large halibut while working in a narrow space, and something seemed to give way in his back. We sent for help, and after one week's treatment he was able to resume his work again.
