Letters from the Field

[From the Semiannual Report of Committee on Christian Science Activities for the Army and Navy in San Diego District from December 1, 1927, to June 1, 1928]

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes (p. 226), "The voice of God in behalf of the African slave was still echoing in our land, when the voice of the herald of this new crusade sounded the keynote of universal freedom, asking a fuller acknowledgment of the rights of man as a Son of God, demanding that the fetters of sin, sickness, and death be stricken from the human mind and that its freedom be won, not through human warfare, not with bayonet and blood, but through Christ's divine Science." That the Churches of Christ, Scientist, and Christian Science Societies of Southern California are carrying on "this new crusade" for "universal freedom," and that "the fetters of sin, sickness, and death" are being "stricken from the human mind" and its freedom being won through "Christ's divine Science," is clearly evidenced in the semimonthly reports of the worker.
