It is with a deep sense of gratitude that I testify to the manifold healings and blessing brought to me by the study of Christian Science. I started to study in 1918, and although at first I did not understand it I realized that it was the Comforter for which I long had searched. On our return from our second Sunday service, I read on page 270 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "Matter and Mind are opposites. One is contrary to the other in its very nature and essence; hence both cannot be real." My husband and I realized that we must stand firm for Truth, as we could hope for no relief from our many problems while trusting in matter. On the same evening we threw away all the medicine which had accumulated through years of sickness. Since that time we have had no medicine in the house. I have been healed of anæmia, valvular disease of the heart, and neuralgia. We have had many problems to meet, but each trial has strengthened my trust in God, and I have come out grateful for the lessons learned.

About three and a half years ago I had an attack of influenza which was overcome in twenty-four hours, but afterwards something formed on my eye which at first seemed to be an abscess. It was very unsightly and very painful; it was also very noticeable, and people often commented on it. I tried to overcome the difficulty, but it was very persistent. One day it became much worse, and I discovered that the sight had gone. I was then instantly filled with fear, and at once asked for help. This was most lovingly given, with the result that about half an hour afterwards the fear was overcome, and in a few days the sight was normal. The attack of blindness came on periodically; therefore I continued treatment for some time, and I am very grateful for the help received. I realized suddenly, however, that I was leaning on the practitioner and becoming lethargic, so I mentioned this and continued to work for myself. The trouble persisted for many months, and I let the thought come in that if only I could have the sore lanced I would be healed. This belief became so strong that I mentioned it one evening, and my son replied that surely God was far more powerful than a lance. I immediately saw the unreality of it all, and realized that I must free my consciousness of belief in the reality of matter. The next morning the eye was perfectly well. This was over two years ago, and I have never had any trouble from the eye since.

I am indeed grateful to Mrs. Eddy, who revealed this truth.—(Mrs.)Phoebe Fletcher, Sevenoaks, Kent, England.
