Peter's Wife's Mother

At the conclusion of his Gospel, Mark quotes the last words of Christ Jesus to his followers before his ascension: "These signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; ... they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

Mrs. Eddy's discovery of the divine, ever operative laws of Life, Truth, and Love, through the understanding of which the sick and sinning are being healed to-day in Christian Science as in Christ Jesus' time, has called the attention of the entire Christian world to the obligation of healing the sick, as well as reforming the sinner, by spiritual means alone, as commanded and demonstrated by the Master. Holding this high and holy incentive ever in view, Christian Scientists make very prayerful study of the miracles performed by Christ Jesus, which, together with his parables, fill a large part of the pages of the four Gospels.

Each miracle, carefully considered, is found to have an individuality of its own, affording lessons of sacred and precious import. Take, for instance, the healing of Peter's wife's mother, the miracle which took place early in those three wonderful years of our Lord's ministry.
