Among the Churches

Current Notes

Prescott, Arizona (First Church).—With simple but devout services, the corner stone of First Church of Christ, Scientist, now under construction at the corner of Gurley and Pleasant Streets, was laid recently, with officers and a few members of the church present. The ground was broken for the church last September, when the foundation was laid, but the contract was not let until March of this year. The building will be of tan brick and will contain an auditorium capable of seating more than one hundred and fifty persons.—Prescott Journal-Miner.

Bell and Maywood, California (First Church).—At the corner of Vinevale Avenue and Fillmore Street in the city of Bell has begun the erection of the new church building of First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Maywood and Bell. The building will be a beautiful one, the architecture being decidedly Spanish and in keeping with the type of building in Southern California. The exterior will be of white stucco, with red Valinvia tile roof, the window sash and casings to be of steel, fitted with amber cathedral glass. The building will have its main entrance opening on Vinevale Avenue, the east front. There will be two side entrances, and there will be a main auditorium with a seating capacity of approximately five hundred, Sunday school rooms, Reading Room, library, and directors' and committee rooms.
