In 1921, at a time of great mental distress, sickness, and affliction, I found the way to Christian Science; and I thank God that He led me to it. I had undergone a serious intestinal operation, which, it is true, had been successful, but which had left me very weak. Two years later, after a physician's diagnosis, I was to undergo just such another operation. This made me very unhappy and filled me with fear, which made me easily offended with those around me; and at the slightest provocation I became hysterical.

Then I asked a Christian Science practitioner for help. After our first conversation and one treatment the erroneous condition disappeared. Through the study of Christian Science I learned to think differently, and to correct many faults which previous to this I had not recognized as such. It was not necessary to undergo another operation, for I was healed; and I am profoundly grateful to God.

I was always religiously minded, but in studying the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, I am learning to understand the Bible and myself better.
