Obedience

EMILY PATTERSON SPEAR

Obedience gives the power to know
That God is Love; daily to show
That loving guidance leads us on,
And gives us grace for victory won;
To lead a brother from the night
Of error's thrall to Horeb height.
Obedience brings the power to plead
For him who in his hour of need
Has asked of us that from our store
Of love we give; that more and more
His longing heart shall seek the place
Of bounteous, abundant grace.
Obedience gives the power to heal:
Our compact with our God to seal.
