Signs of the Times

[From the Christian Witness and Advocate of Bible Holiness, Chicago, Illinois]

True education cannot be defined in such academic terms as credit hours, class periods, courses of study, and textbooks. These things are necessary, but other things are of supreme moment. Dispositions must be disciplined, attitudes must be tested, motives must be purified; there must be development of character. True education, if it means anything, means daily schooling in the art of right living; and right living means living as nearly as possible the life of Christ Jesus in harmony with, and in service for, our fellow-men. Service above self; Christ over all; his kingdom triumphant in the hearts and lives of men—this should become the dominant force in thought and life.
