In January, 1924, I was taken ill with the grippe, inflammation of both lungs, and pleural suppuration. After being operated on for the last mentioned disease, I was attacked with very painful phlebitis of the left leg. For many weeks I lay near death, and could not be healed. Then my sister told me about Christian Science. She procured for me the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, in which I diligently read, and she asked a practitioner in my name for help. This was lovingly given, and after several absent treatments my condition improved perceptibly. I was soon able to get up, and regained courage to live. In July, I took a new situation, which required considerably more strenuous work than I had done before, but which I can perform without difficulty, to the present day.
Next to God I am sincerely grateful to Mrs. Eddy, to the practitioner, and to my sister for acquainting me with Christian Science, which I shall continue to strive to understand thoroughly.—Fritz Rau, Försterei Plötzenfliess, Kr. Arnswalde, Germany.
