Gratitude

Oh, what is gratitude? The spoken word
Acknowledging to men that I have heard
God's healing voice? A life of simple deeds,
Through which I minister to human needs?
A quiet joy, wherein I glorify
My Father-Mother God unfailingly?
Yea, these; and one thing more—a humble heart,
Where good remembered often may impart
Assurance of its power, that I may pray,
"I thank Thee, Father," ere I see the way,
And feel a rush of thankfulness to God
For blessings yet to come in paths untrod.
