In your recent issue under the heading, "Radio Humor Scarce," E. D. says "that some of our Catholic friends are becoming worried about a Christian Science radio station that broadcasts anti-Catholic talks on Mexico and Al Smith's chances for the presidential nomination." Although this item is written in the lighter vein, please let me state, lest there be some confusion in the thought of your readers, that Christian Scientists who are members of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, do not radiocast any talks concerning other religions or persons holding differing religious views. It is not the practice of Christian Scientists, nor does their religion permit them, to speak unkindly of those holding differing views. This is distinctly set forth by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, in the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 444), where she states: "Students are advised by the author to be charitable and kind, not only towards differing forms of religion and medicine, but to those who hold these differing opinions. Let us be faithful in pointing the way through Christ, as we understand it, but let us also be careful always to 'judge righteous judgement,' and never to condemn rashly." She then adds, in the same paragraph: "If ecclesiastical sects or medical schools turn a deaf ear to the teachings of Christian Science, then part from these opponents as did Abraham when he parted from Lot, and say in thy heart: 'Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen: for we be brethren.' "

Christian Scientists are responsible for and radiocast only Christian Science lectures delivered by authorized lecturers duly appointed by The Christian Science Board of Directors of The Mother Church, and some of the Sunday services held in The Mother Church and in some of its branch churches. Apart from these activities nothing is sent into the air by the Christian Science movement as established by Mary Baker Eddy.
