In His Presence

What an assurance of the success of all his endeavors it must have been to Moses when God said to him, "My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest"! Surely after this Moses could tread his pathway with confidence in his ability to succeed in his undertakings, having the knowledge that he had the promise of God that he should continue in His presence.

We are all constantly in God's presence when we are thinking good thoughts and doing acts of kindness; in other words, when we are rendering service to our fellow-men. This is His service, a service in which the reflection of Love is paramount. In the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, we find this sentence (p. 518): "Love giveth to the least spiritual idea might, immortality, and goodness, which shine through all as the blossom shines through the bud." Surely, as we follow the teachings of Christian Science, we can express something of this Love. What a high duty we have before us when we realize that we, as Christian Scientists, are God's representatives, and that we must manifest Him in all our daily activities!

A wonderful example has been given us by our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, in her years of unremitting toil and the hardships she endured while proving to the world that Christian Science is the Comforter promised by our Master. And she has given to the world this "key" to the Scriptures, that all may avail themselves of the opportunity to know more about God, and to prove that Jesus' command to "heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils," is as imperious to-day as it was in the time of the apostles. As we diligently study Mrs. Eddy's writings, and endeavor to apply the divine Principle set forth in them, the Scriptures unfold to us, and we learn more and more of God's plan for our salvation.
