A more careful study of Christian Science on our critic's...
News,
A more careful study of Christian Science on our critic's part would have prevented him from stating in Joe Pencil's column of the Cranston News of recent date that Christian Science was a "form of grafting." This is not true. Christian Science is the restoration of spiritual healing in its original simplicity and purity, as practiced by Jesus, his disciples, and the early Christians. The physical healing in Christian Science naturally results from the operation in human consciousness of the understanding of divine Mind, or God. In Christian Science it is being proved that God is the same unchangeable Love, always available for every human need, awaiting only our awakening, our acceptance, and our understanding. If our critic will study his Bible with the aid of the spiritual light which the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, throws upon it, sufficiently to enable him to heal the sick and practice the Golden Rule, he will never mention Christian Science except in terms of gratitude, because he will understand what Jesus meant when he said, "If ye continue in my word, . . . ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
