With gratitude unmeasured and a sincere desire to help...
With gratitude unmeasured and a sincere desire to help others, this testimony to the unfailing efficacy of Christian Science to heal all manner of evil, is written.
That Christian Science, as given to mankind by Mary Baker Eddy in its textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," reveals the truth which Jesus, the master Metaphysician, taught, was proved to me over twenty-two years ago. Since that time added proofs have been countless and constant. When once one clearly recognizes the teachings of Christian Science as the "laws of Life, Truth, and Love" (Science and Health, p. 107), one is freed from all fear of its possible failure to meet every need. The laws of divine Mind have always been in operation; they govern and control all of Mind's ideas; but not until one consciously acknowledges this to be true, and refuses to admit the jurisdiction of any so-called mortal mind laws, does one consciously experience the harmonious results of their operation.
When the reading of the Christian Science textbook was commenced, I was asked to bring to its study an open mind, as many beliefs then cherished were not in accord with it. From the first I began to see, though dimly, what its acceptance would mean; and I was filled with an intense fear lest I be led astray from the teachings of the Bible. My mental agony was only eased by the constant prayer: "Let me not, O God, accept this teaching to be true, unless it be so." During days and nights much time was spent in reading and prayer; for I was as one who hungered and thirsted after righteousness. As I felt myself yielding to the beneficence and compassionate attraction of Christian Science and glimpsed that it meant universal salvation, I suddenly realized that all one had to do was to put it to the test, since the truth about God and man must be available to each one, to even a child in the understanding of it.
