I have had many benefits and healings through the study and application of Christian Science. For many years I suffered from attacks of asthma and also seemed to be subject to constant colds, headaches, and whatever disease was popular in the community.

Soon after hearing of Christian Science I ordered a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. When it came it proved quite a disappointment to me, for I did not seem able to comprehend it at all. Shortly after this I learned that a few people were meeting on Sunday afternoons to read the Christian Science Lesson-Sermons. I was invited to the home of these people the following Sunday, and went gladly. It was quite a long time before any benefit seemed to come to me through the study of the textbook. I had been reading Christian Science literature for about two years before I finally consented to give up all medicine. One drug in particular seemed impossible to part with, for it seemed to be the only support upon which I could rely. However, the practitioner whom I had asked for treatment said that she could not go on with the case unless I tried to get along without the drug. This I consented to do for one night. At the end of two weeks I threw the last drug out of the house, and have had no desire to return to medicine since that time, which was in 1914.
