Signs of the Times

[Dr. George Sumney, as quoted in the Tribune, New Orleans, Louisiana]

There is no healing in discussions of modernism versus fundamentalism, in debating the relations of religion and science, in sociological and ethical disquisitions, in æsthetics and literature. These may please the fancy or titillate the imagination, or feed the intellect, or meet the ambitions of thought, but they do not heal. They do not comfort. And it is healing and comfort that the sin-sick souls want. Christ is the healer! This healer is accessible. He stands at the very portal of your life. He walks the streets with you. He is in your home. And when the throng is pressing, the throng of men or of duties and cares, it is never too dense for you to reach out and touch him. And if your touch of faith reach only to the hem of his robe, you are healed.
