[Written for the Sentinel]

Consecration

Give all to God,
Nor hold away
Some thought-out plan,
Whereof you say,
I shall work thus
Some far-off day,
When ruled by my own will.

Ere that day's light
Your eye shall scan,
Futile and vain
Will seem your plan,
Since you will know
God works through man,
When human pride is still.

The way of God,
That way is best;
The peace of God
Shall be your rest;
Joy of the Lord
Your life and zest—
You'll love to do His will.
