With a deep sense of gratitude to God and to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for the many blessings which have come into my life, and with a sincere desire that others may be encouraged and helped thereby, I should like to tell something of my own experience of the loving ministrations of Christian Science.

I did not take up the study of Christian Science for the sake of physical healing, although there was much which needed healing in my home, but merely to satisfy my curiosity as to its teachings, and because of a friend who was deeply interested, and who lent me the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. From the moment I opened its pages and began to read, however, I realized that I had found the truth; and I shall never forget the first sweet sense of joy and freedom which came to me in the dawning knowledge that God is indeed "a God at hand." Up to this time my life had been one of daily fear,—fear of disease, fear of the future, and fear (not love) of God; but as I read and pondered the revelations of our beloved Leader, I began to obtain a brighter and happier outlook on life, and a priceless sense of confidence and security in God's nearness to and tender love for all His creation. I began to realize that sickness and disease are not of God's creating, and therefore do not exist in reality; and as I learned to affirm the omnipotence and ever-presence of infinite Love, the physical discords which had seemed to be part of my wife's lot, as well as my own, gradually disappeared from our lives, and a degree of health and strength hitherto unknown became our portion.
