In your paper of recent date you report some remarks of the Bishop of Manchester on faith-healing missions and Christian Science. It is well known that in rather more than fifty years the Christian Science movement has grown rapidly and now has branches in all parts of the civilized world, and that thousands of cases of healing of organic and functional diseases have taken place. In faith-healing missions may be seen a recognition of the fact that Christianity, to be true to its Founder, should be able to preach the gospel of the kingdom of heaven and to heal the sick. The methods at present adopted are entirely different from Christian Science, which works for the destruction of the claims of evil (whether as sickness or sin) on the basis of the omnipotence and omnipresence of God. In Christian Science it is the truth of being which heals.

When thou wishest to delight thyself, think of the virtues of those who live with thee; for instance, the activity of one, and the modesty of another, and the liberality of a third, and some other good quality of a fourth.—Marcus Aurelius.
