I should like to give thanks through the Sentinel for the...
I should like to give thanks through the Sentinel for the realization which has come to me through the study of Christian Science, as given to us by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, of the benefits referred to in the one hundred and third psalm. I am thankful for the knowledge that God is the only Life. I am thankful for the knowledge of what I am here for,—to bear "witness unto the truth" as a follower of Christ Jesus. I am thankful for the overcoming in a large measure of sin in myself. Christian Science enables us to overcome sin as nothing else can. The proofs that I have had during the past three years show that God does heal all our diseases. The realization, even in a degree, of life in and of God leaves no room for erring disease-thoughts.
At the time I turned to Christian Science I was a student at the University of Nevada. I was weighed down by a chronic stomach disorder, as well as by worry about troubles in our family. The mental and physical relief that came over me as I talked with a dear practitioner will be a constant reminder of how much I owe to God, to Christ Jesus, and to Mrs. Eddy, who has brought the truth to humanity again. Truly, He redeemeth my life from destruction. The trust that I had that I can never be separated from God, who is my Life, kept me at a time when I should have fallen off the side of an oil-car through being overcome by smoke when I was riding on a freight train through a long tunnel, where it was necessary to use two locomotives to pull the train.
The happiness and joy that fill my heart as I go out to work are a great help in causing me to do good work at everything that is given me to do. When I came to Bozeman, Montana, where I am now, I found kind friends and abundant employment, which is enabling me to continue with my college course and to study to know more about God and His goodness. To recount all the blessings that have come to me in the three years I have been studying Christian Science would take a great deal of space. My desire is that I may let my deeds show my gratitude.
