I am grateful for an opportunity to tell of a healing...
I am grateful for an opportunity to tell of a healing through Christian Science experienced lately in my family. Having studied Science for seven years, we have had many healings, but none which seemed so wonderful as this one.
I had taken my eleven-year-old son quite a distance from home for a new months' visit. After being there for a couple of weeks, he was suddenly stricken with what is termed acute appendicitis. I tried to the best of my understanding to overcome the error manifested, but the symptoms became so alarming that fear crept in. After working and watching for thirty-six hours, I called a doctor. He came at once, and after a careful examination named the malady, adding that my son was in a very serious condition. As the child had a very high temperature and was delirious, the doctor advised me to send for my husband. This was about eight o'clock in the morning, and when leaving he told me to be sure and call him at noon.
After the doctor had gone, I turned to God for guidance, and through prayerful study was led to select a Christian Science practitioner's name from the Journal. When noon came, instead of calling the doctor I called this practitioner, who came almost at once. When she arrived, I am sure that the symptoms were fully as alarming as the doctor had expected them to be, as the boy was having severe chills at intervals. Although I felt it was a battle with death, by the practitioner's clear understanding and the help so lovingly given, my son was healed. Within two hours he remarked that he was hungry. It seems almost unbelievable, but it is true. In four days he attended a circus in company with his father and me, and the following day we took him for a fifty-mile automobile ride. To-day he is a healthy, happy boy.
