A correspondent says: "It would be well if Christian Science organizations adopted the same attitude toward war (which is little else than vivisection on the human plane) as it does toward disease." Christian Scientists have very strong views on the subject of war, maintaining that in itself it is an evil. If the majority of people of all nations accepted the Christian Science teaching on this subject, war would be impossible. As the thought of the world is at present, however, there may be times when even war may be the lesser of two evils. The Christian Science movement is doing more than any other movement in the world to destroy the belief of the necessity of war by enabling its adherents progressively to cast out and destroy those thoughts which are the causes of war,—namely, hatred, envy, malice, uncharitableness, criticism, revenge, selfishness, self-will, and self-love,—and to love their neighbor as themselves. The Christian Science Monitor, an international daily newspaper, is doing much to help to prevent war by making the nations of the world better known to one another.
