[Original testimony in German]
When I read the many testimonies in the Journal, Sentinel,...
When I read the many testimonies in the Journal, Sentinel, and Herald, the thought often comes to me, Why should I not relate my healing? I suffered from a disease of the blood and had a skin eruption. Several doctors were unable to help me. Then a specialist was recommended to me. This specialist lectured to the students in Rusch College in June, 1898, about my disease. Very strong medicine was prescribed, but eight weeks passed and no improvement was visible. Once, as I was taking my medicine on the train, a gentleman to whom I had spoken about the disease recommended that I visit the Christian Science Reading Room in Chicago.
I knew nothing about Christian Science, but greatly desired to be healed, and did not mind in the least how and where I could be healed. I found a practitioner in the Reading Room who took an interest in me. After my third visit to her I decided to give up the medicine, but found it very difficult to do so. I then purchased "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and began to read and to attend church—a practice previously unknown to me. In ten weeks, with the help of the practitioner, I was completely healed. At that time I thought I might, perhaps, be able to live for another ten years; but it is twenty-seven years in June since I heard of Christian Science for the first time.
In these twenty-seven years I have always enjoyed good health. I have attended the church services and Wednesday evening meetings regularly, and am always glad when it is time to go to church, for I always feel refreshed and strengthened after the service. I am very grateful to the practitioner, and especially grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, through whom we received the divine healing; for being healed by divine Love is truly uplifting.
