Your recent issue carries an article in which Christian Science "tabernacles" are mentioned in a way that plainly shows the writer has no knowledge of the spiritual nature of Christian Science teaching. His comparisons of such tabernacles with banks and banking institutions as "twin souls," "two hearts that beat as one," the dollar sign as a fitting emblem for both, and with a philosophy much the same—"work, save, success—failure is sin"—indicate that the said writer has an erroneous concept of the basis and purpose of Christian Science.

It is true that Christian Science insures success to all righteous endeavor. There is a saying of Christ Jesus which indicates the source of true success, and which reads: "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you;" that is, all mankind's need will thus be supplied, as the verses accompanying the passage will show.

A notable example illustrating this is found in II Chronicles, where it is shown that riches, wealth, and honor came to King Solomon as the result of his seeking wisdom and knowledge—spiritual understanding, in other words—instead of material wealth. The teaching of Christian Science shows, and proves, that good comes to mankind in proportion as spiritual law is understood and obeyed. There are literally thousands of people in all walks of life who have greatly improved their spiritual, moral, physical, and financial conditions through gaining an understanding of divine law as taught in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, a copy of which may be borrowed or purchased at any Christian Science Reading Room, or obtained from public libraries.
