I wish to express my gratitude for a beautiful healing...
I wish to express my gratitude for a beautiful healing I have recently experienced through the application of Christian Science. When walking home from church with two young friends, I tripped and fell with great force on my elbow. For a moment the pain made me feel faint; but I knew that man cannot be parted for one moment from God, and I was able to walk to my house, which was quite near. After sitting down for a few minutes, I went up to my bedroom. I was wearing a thick coat, and noticed as I took it off that the sleeve of the coat was not cut, but that the sleeve of my dress was. On removing my dress, I found that the bone of my elbow was damaged and had pierced the skin, also my sleeve. I quickly tied a handkerchief around it, declaring that God's child is always perfect; and I remembered that on page 423 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy says: "Bones have only the substance of thought which forms them. They are only phenomena of the mind of mortals." I knew that nothing had happened to God's child; that man is spiritual, not material, and that all inharmony is illusion. I would not listen to any suggestion of mortal mind that I should stay in my room, but I put on another dress and went down to supper with several friends. I was able to use my hand and arm during the meal as if nothing had happened, and I felt very little pain. When I went to bed that night, mortal mind suggested to me that my arm would be very stiff in the morning, and that I should be unable to use it; but I said, "Get thee behind me, Satan." I slept all night, and had no more trouble; I used my arm as usual, and in a few days it was quite healed.
I am so grateful for all the help I have received through the study of Christian Science, and for the understanding that it gives of "God with us." I am more grateful each day to God, and to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for all that she has given us. For over seventeen years Christian Science has met all my needs.
