Linking Christian Science, even without harmful intention,...
Christian Index
Linking Christian Science, even without harmful intention, with past or present schools of heretical philosophies, as a writer recently did in an issue of the Christian Index, does not present this Science in its true light. Christian Scientists feel they have the right to claim, equally with other Christians, that their religion is founded upon the divine basis; and that they should be judged by their fruits according to the divine standard set by Christ Jesus. If sickness is real,—has actual being or existence,—then God made it and, therefore, sickness constitutes part of the eternal plan; for "all things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made." It is reasonable to know that God is not the creator of disease, for the Bible plainly declares that He made only that which is "very good." But God, Truth, destroys both sin and its concomitant, disease, and all that is unlike good. Christian Scientists are patient with those who feel that some aid other than omnipotent Truth is necessary in the healing of disease, deeming it the sacred privilege of every individual to exercise his choice in this respect. Christian Scientists find that in turning unreservedly to God, Life, Truth, and Love, in every need, be it for mental, moral, or physical healing, they never seek in vain.
