Pilot

My attention has been called to a statement appearing in the Pilot which claims that "Christian Science was practiced under another name centuries before the Christian era by the Orientals." Christian Science is a religious and scientific system of divine healing discovered in 1866 by Mary Baker Eddy. The absence of creed and dogma in the Christian Science church, its freedom from materialism, superstition, Oriental witchcraft, and mysticism, also the simplicity, uniformity, and impersonality of its form worship and organization, are some of the distinguishing features which characterize it. As proof positive that hypnotism, spiritualism, theosophy, and kindred systems are all foreign to true Christian Science, may I quote the author's own words (Science and Health, p. 41), "No ancient school of philosophy, materia medica, or scholastic theology ever taught or demonstrated the divine healing of absolute Science."
