About twelve years ago I was given up to die with pneumonia. Two physicians stated that I could not live through the night, as nobody was ever known to live with the pulse and temperature that I then had. In the home was a brother who was a Christian Scientist, and by his realization of the truth in Christian Science I was healed. For a great many years I had been a slave to the liquor habit, and had been treated by different physicians for it, but without avail. Two of them had told me that it had brought on Bright's disease, but if I would stop drinking, the disease would vanish. I did so for two weeks, the doctor giving me cocaine in place of liquor. But no human power could heal me. About six months after being healed of pneumonia, I was led to a Christian Science practitioner by a dear sister who had been healed by this truth; and after ten days' treatment I was healed, and have never wanted or tasted liquor since.

My blessings since that time have been many, including the privilege of serving as Reader for a Christian Science Society; and I have just experienced the great blessing of class instruction. I am a grateful man, and can best express my desire in the words of that beautiful hymn, written by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy (Poems, p. 13):—
