Welfare of Children
It is not inconsistent that children, seeing themselves under continual guidance and correction, should look for perfection in those who have reached the age of maturity; but they find that years have not always yielded the fertility of goodness that they might well expect to see. Because the standards which have been held before them have been more or less of a personal nature, children are often roughly awakened when association takes them through the jungles of human conditions, where weeds, stones, and barren branches of thought project themselves.
There are many aimless wanderers in the forests of darkness, the victims of every whim of mortal belief. When desirous of spiritual uprightness, they will find that the study and practice of the teachings of the Bible with the aid of Christian Science will enable them to manifest a well-balanced and analytical consciousness. With these guides, the seekers of Truth are comforted and directed to the very heights of spiritual understanding.
In the light of Christian Science it is seen how consistent are the prophetic words of Jesus, "Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up." Christian Science teaches that God, who is perfect, could not have made evil; consequently, the only root or branch that sin may seem to have must be of a phantom or dream nature, which mortal belief sustains by accepting it as a reality. Hence, it is possible to uproot evil, to understand its unreality, because it is no part of God or His creation.
