Words are totally inadequate to express my gratitude to God for the many blessings Christian Science has brought to me. Since 1914 I had suffered from what medical science had pronounced an incurable malady,—locomotor ataxia. Material remedies were resorted to, but I gradually became worse. After about twelve months my condition became so bad that it was almost impossible for me to retain any food, and it was with great difficulty that I was able to attend to my work. After taking many drugs, I resorted to hypodermic injections. At last my physician had to tell me there was no hope of a cure, but that life might be prolonged by the continual use of drugs. In 1918 my work took me to another town, and my case was handed over to a doctor who resided there. He continued to treat me in a similar manner, but my condition did not improve. I was in a state of misery, and life was very unpromising. Soon after this I was forced to go to bed with an attack of neuritis, accompanied by an attack of enteritis; and it was at this period that Christian Science entered into my life.

It seemed that man's extremity was God's opportunity. A friend called at the house and left two copies of the Christian Science Sentinel. I read them thoughtfully, and while reading I began to realize for the first time that God is infinite Love, omnipresent. This changed my thoughts concerning my relationship to God, and from this time all depression left me. I became happier than I had been for years. A few days later our friend lent me a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I read it with an open thought; and in reading the chapter entitled "Prayer" I realized I had found what I really wanted, and that I was getting better. I decided to give up all material remedies from that time. Soon afterwards I sought the help of a Christian Science practitioner, and for some time I received absent treatment, with the result that I made wonderful progress.

I am grateful to say that my healing is permanent. It is now nearly four years since this great truth was brought to me; and my gratitude cannot be adequately expressed. For some time it has been my privilege to attend the Sunday services and Wednesday evening testimony meetings, which are proving a great help to me; and I am grateful for the spiritual enlightenment and understanding which I have received through the study of the textbook. I am indeed grateful to God and to our Leader, Mrs. Eddy; also to the practitioner who so lovingly helped me. This testimony is given with the earnest desire that it will help others, as I have been helped.
