Although I did not turn to Christian Science for physical healing, I have had many opportunities to prove the healing efficacy of the truth as revealed to us by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."

For a number of years I was subject to very severe colds during the winter. Sometimes they would last four or five weeks. Two or three weeks of that time I would be unable to speak above a whisper, and always had a high temperature. This condition was not healed instantaneously. It lasted over a period of three or four years, each time becoming less and less severe; and this last winter I have been entirely free. I am grateful for this healing because it has destroyed so much fear in my consciousness. I realize now that the condition was but the manifestation of fear. On page 586 of Science and Health Mrs. Eddy gives this definition of "fear": "Heat; inflammation; anxiety; ignorance; error; desire; caution."

Christian Science has helped me financially. A few years ago I found myself in a seeming condition of lack. I had had no business education, and was very proud and selfish, thinking I should never have to go into the business world. I had not been in a business office more than a dozen times. My gratitude is unbounded for this experience, for I realize I had reached that place in my progress of which Mrs. Eddy speaks on page 266 of Science and Health, where she says, "Spiritual Love will force you to accept what best promotes your growth." As I went from office to office seeking employment, I was learning a lesson in humility, kindness, and compassion. As these spiritual qualities filled my consciousness, I lost the sense of pride and selfishness, and began to see man as the true idea of God. There have been many, many obstacles to overcome, but God has guided every step of the way; and in less than three years I was placed in a position which mortal sense would claim it would take years of business training to fill. The struggle the first few months in this position was severe; but through the loving and faithful help of a Christian Science practitioner it was proved that there is but one Mind, one intelligence, and that man reflects this Mind.
