From early childhood I was always sick and subject to terrible headaches. In 1911, I submitted to a surgical operation for appendicitis; after which I was continually weak and unable to do anything. We tried change of climate with no seeming benefit. In 1916 I underwent an operation for tumors, which left me weak; and I suffered very much with neuritis. My physician told me I should have to leave the coast and go to a dry climate. In 1919 we prepared to go East; but I was taken sick. I submitted to another severe operation in May, and still another in July. Their effects left me with a very weak heart and a lack of blood. In October I was taken ill with pleurisy. This was followed by what the doctors called dropsy and Bright's disease. I was unable to lie down, and had to be propped up in a chair, night and day.

One day a friend came to see me, and asked why we did not try Christian Science. We decided to do so, and sent for a practitioner. I was so swollen I could scarcely breathe. The physician had said he could do nothing more for me. My husband read to me, hours at a time, from "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. It was some time before we began to see any change; but when it did come I gained very rapidly. The swelling left in a few days; and I was entirely healed of all my former troubles. I am fifty-three years old, and do not use glasses at all to read or sew, as I did before my healing.

I have had many other healings since then; also, my husband has had many healings, for which I am very grateful. I am most grateful to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for her wonderful book, Science and Health, as it has given me a true understanding of God as Love and as an ever present help. Now I am well and strong, which I never was until Science came into my home.
