Divine Mind's Government

There is one lesson which all must finally learn; and that is, to yield to God's government. Christian Science, revealing the truth that God is divine Mind, shows beyond the possibility of a doubt that, eventually, all men must be governed absolutely by this Mind. If any one accepts the fundamental truths that divine Mind includes all intelligence, and that this intelligence is perfect, infinite, good, he will immediately recognize, at least theoretically, that therein is to be found the solution of every problem, the wisdom for every need, the power to express all that is real and enduring. Controlled by divine Mind, there must always be the conscious ability to think and act perfectly, and perfect results must inevitably follow.

Jesus invariably obeyed the Mind which is God. Consequently, he always refused to be controlled by any belief in another so-called mind. As Mrs. Eddy writes in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 315), "He knew of but one Mind and laid no claim to any other." He therefore never failed. Whatever Jesus undertook, he accomplished. He was the most intelligent of all men; and, in consequence, he among all men was the most valuable. Viewing existence from this standpoint, one is forced to admit that if he too would live perfectly,—if he too would be of great value to the world,—he also must learn to be governed absolutely by God, the one Mind.

One way, then, of stating the final aim of every Christian Scientist is this: the divine Mind must be so understood, obeyed, and adored that every belief in an opposite government must, shall, be proved to be nothing, to be unreal, nonexistent. This can be brought about only as each individual learns, through the acceptance and practice of Christian Science, to be consciously subject to God. Mrs. Eddy teaches this in all her writings, proclaiming over and over again this fundamental necessity. Her teachings are founded on the Bible, which repeatedly reiterates that God's government must finally and completely prevail. Zechariah prophesied, saying, "His dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from the river even to the ends of the earth."
